Dear ILL neutron users,
Neutron scattering experiments, particularly on soft matter, often require precise labelling in order to target selected parts of the material to be studied. Due to the large quantity of hydrogen atoms in soft matter and the marked contrast between hydrogen and its isotope deuterium, selectively replacing hydrogen atoms with deuterium is a versatile strategy to influence the contrast within a material.
Please note that JCNS offers a synthesis service for deuterated polymers, ethoxylation and small molecules, in order to make partially or fully deuterated materials available to neutron users at ILL.
At https://indico.frm2.tum.de/e/deuteration3 you find all relevant information and can register as well as submit your proposal.
If your proposal is accepted the materials will be provided for free (up to a reasonable cost of starting materials) in exchange for co-authorship for the responsible member of the deuteration team.
Deadline will be April 28th, 2025.
Please don't forget: Get in touch with deuterierung@fz-juelich.de before submitting a proposal!
