Deadline for Neutron Scattering and Deuteration Proposals at the OPAL Reactor (ANSTO)

Submit proposal ↗
Facilities
The Bragg Institute, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), National Deuteration Facility (NDF)
Deadline
15 Mar 2015, 12:59 UTC
Type
Standard

Proposals at the OPAL Neutron Beam Facility (both cold- and thermal-neutron instruments) and National Deuteration Facility.
We have now had 18 months of reliable cold neutrons at OPAL since 18th July 2014, and we operate around 290 days per calendar year.
Deadline 15 March 2015, for beam time between July and December 2015

ANSTO is open for proposals for the following neutron-beam instruments and facilities:

Echidna (high-resolution powder diffractometer)
Wombat (high-intensity powder diffractometer)
Koala (Laue diffractometer)
Kowari (strain scanner)
Platypus (reflectometer)
Quokka (pinhole small-angle-neutron scattering)
Taipan (thermal-neutron 3-axis spectrometer)
Sika (cold-neutron 3-axis spectrometer) - in the user program for the first time
Dingo (neutron radiography/tomography/imaging)
Pelican (cold-neutron time-of-flight spectrometer)
Kookaburra (ultra-small-angle neutron scattering)

Biological and Chemical Deuteration (at the National Deuteration Facility - NDF)

Small-angle X-ray scattering and X-ray reflectometry (in conjunction with QUOKKA or PLATYPUS)
Note for Australian and New Zealand users: all access to our in-house X-ray machines is now through the OPAL Portal (https://neutron.ansto.gov.au), rather than via AINSE – the same access principles apply as before.
Proposals should be submitted using our on-line system, https://neutron.ansto.gov.au Deadline: 15 March 2015.

For single visit proposals for neutron and X-ray instruments, select round “2015-2 Neutron”
For 3 year program proposals for neutron instruments, select “2015-2 Neutron Program”
For National Deuteration Facility proposals, select round "2015-2 Deuteration”
